Unique Wedding Invitation Wording

Earlier this morning, I met up with my invitation client, Kim, to deliver these darling "sweet love bird invitations" that I created in a gorgeous light sky blue color scheme for her May wedding. The detail that I loved most about these was the unique wording at the beginning of the invitation:

this day I will marry my friend,
the one I laugh with, live for,
dream with, and love

The majority of the invitations that I do are fairly traditional, so I always love seeing something different. Isn't that such a sweet line?

These invitations were based on the original sweet lovebird invitation in red that I featured on the blog last summer. If you are interested in these invitations or have an idea for a custom design, contact me at info@pinkorchiddesigns.com!

Harvard Club Wedding Photos by Jamison Wexler!

Last October, Fiona and I were the day-of coordinators for Hilary and Joe's wedding at the Harvard Club in Boston's Back Bay. It was a wedding full of charm and elegance, with fabulous florals from The Tangled Web in fall colors, and a crowd that could really dance the night away. I previously posted about all about the wonderful details here, and now I'm really excited to be able to show you the professional wedding photos from Jamison Wexler! Jamie and his second shooter, Earl Christie, were so nice to work with on the day of the wedding. Overall, they were just very pleasant to be around, and the best thing is that they do amazing work!

If you're wondering what that orange thing is in the second to last photo, it's the pulled sugar sculpture on the top of the French croquembouche dessert! To see more of the details, you can click on each collage to enlarge the photos. Thanks again to Joe and Hilary for allowing us to be part of your special day!

We are featured on Beantown Bride!

Just a couple of weeks ago, I posted about a new and fabulous resource for Boston-area brides called Beantown Bride. Not only can you see examples of real weddings, but most of the vendors listed are around this area, so you could hire them for your wedding if you love their work! Mixed in with the real weddings, are some vendor spotlights, and I'm thrilled that they have decided to feature Pink Orchid Weddings!

Fiona and I were interviewed about the importance of a day-of coordinator (DOC), along with some specifics about the DOC services that we offer. Check out our feature on Beantown Bride here!

Blues and purples are making a comeback!

It might all be a crazy coincidence, but so many of the projects that I'm working on for this upcoming wedding season are in shades of blue or purple: light blue, sky blue, aqua blue, royal blue, lavender, eggplant... you get the picture. I've done a lot in pinks, browns, and reds towards the end of last season, so maybe it's because these colors are more popular for the spring and summer season? Whatever the reason, I love it! Blues and purples to me are soothing and gorgeous to look at.

Even a batch of custom tags I created for a company's corporate gifts followed the same pattern. The company color happens to be blue!

Ahh, looking at satin ribbon never gets old! It's just so pretty! If you are looking for invitations for your upcoming wedding, contact me at info@pinkorchiddesigns.com. Remember, everything on the blog can be easily changed to match your color theme, and custom designs are included in all invitation pricing.

Beantown Bride - The Ultimate Resource for Boston-area Brides!

If you haven't heard the buzz around town yet about Boston's newest resource for local area brides, then I'm happy to spread the word to you about Beantown Bride! Not only do they showcase gorgeous real weddings, but they are a great way to find Boston-area vendors.

How many times have you seen unbelievable weddings on blogs, but then find out that the fabulous photographer, or stunning florals were done by a wedding vendor somewhere across the country? On Beantown Bride, not only will you be inspired by the content, but if you see something you like, you can actually find the Boston-area vendor and hire them for your own wedding. It makes perfect sense, and I'm so happy that there's finally a local wedding resource like this.

So, be sure to check it out, and happy planning!!

Elm Bank Wedding Photos by k.Photographie

Happy new year everyone! I think it's the first time ever where I haven't blogged in over a week, but after relaxing with family over the holidays, I'm back and ready to blog!

In September, Fiona and I were the day-of coordinators for Sok-Cheng and Tony's wedding at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society at Elm Bank. There were a lot of cultural elements for this wedding, starting off with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, and ending with a lion dance performance in the tented reception. I posted a bunch of wedding details here a few months ago, and now I'm really excited to be able to show you some professional photos from Kate Femino of k.Photographie!

Isn't the ceremony area beautiful? All of the flowers were created by Dana of Bumble Bee Landing and the pink aisle runner definitely gave the ceremony a pop of color. Thanks again to Sok-Cheng and Tony for allowing us to be part of your big day!
